Oh boy, where do I even begin with Sara & Dakota. Having grown up with Sara, knowing her as a feisty little curly haired kid, it was such a joy to spend time with her and Dakota getting to know the people they had become and were becoming together. Their wedding is one that people send me as inspiration all the time, and even though I love it – let me tell you it was not an easy one to achieve.

Affected by the pandemic, they had to leave their dream venue due to restriction limitations that didn’t jive with the kind of experience they wanted their guests to have. We looked into many other venues, we talked about pulling off a backyard tented event at Dakota’s parents, to ultimately landed on the stunning Braestone Farm with Upcountry Venues (I mean how could you not, they are always one of my first recommendations).

So there we were, at this point we had basically designed and planned 3 full weddings and were onto a new plan. A plan that Sara & Dakota had already felt like they sacrificed so much for, and ultimately because of the pandemic were still sacrificing more with a smaller guest count. But they were both such amazing spirits about the entire thing, knowing that getting married with their closest loved ones with them was the most important and the rest they would celebrate with another time.

Now comes the fun part for me! Because of how many times we had talked about decor and design and floor plans, Sara just kind of looked at me and said “surprise me”. I am pretty sure her bridesmaids nearly fell over at the thought of Sara literally not knowing anything that was happening, but she was in good hands. My goal was to give her this epic edgy/boho vibe that screamed fun and beauty – two things that truly define their relationship and the way they are together. Our herringbone harvest tables were designed and built specifically for these two, which is why they are called our “Sarota Table”, and of course I couldn’t have brought this vision to life without the incredible Sarah from Little Shed Flower Co.

The inside of the barn was transformed to be this wild, magical, stunning & fun space with all the crazy exciting, passionate energy that these two had for one another. Every detail was carefully thought about, including the hand written sayings at their head table that each wedding party member had to stand up and read as their introduction instead of entering through the doors to a song. This made for a good laugh and a unique/different way of doing things.

Truthfully everything about this day was perfect, the weather, the sunset, the food, the company, it was truly an honour to be part of this magical day with these two and I am grateful to still be in touch and watch their little family grow!
